  Welcome

imageMy name is Michael Ames and I am a Licensed Massage Therapist.  I have been Practicing my unique brand of massage therapy since 2003.  I was educated at the Muscular Therapy Institute in Watertown, MA.  I have also worked as a personal trainer in the past and bring a dual approach to healing that not only involves massage, but also self care exercises that will help you alleviate your pains and discomforts all together!

Sports Massage experience

I have worked with several professional teams and athletes as well as amateur to elite level athletes.  I have worked with the Bay State Warriors, a professional womens football team in New England, Chicago's major league soccer team, the Fire, and several Olympic Athletes.  I also provide Sports massage at local road races and triathlons as well as at major marathons such as the Boston and Disney marathons.

Here in Orlando I was the team therapist for our Arena football team, the Orlando Predators from 2008 - 2010.  I provide massage therapy to the Cirque Du Soleil gymnasts and performers at the resident show, La Nouba in Downtown Disney.  My clients have included nationally ranked water skiiers, wake boarders, Flow Riders, Professional Golfers, Triathletes, Marathoners, Tennis Players, Squash Players, dancers, gymnasts, Children Athletes of various sports and Mixed Martial Artisits here in Orlando.  I also work with a large number of auto accident injuries.  These range from low back sprains, knee injuries, and the most popular injury, whiplash.  In addition to my Professional Athletes I provide pain relief for amateur athletes and "regular people" of all walks of life.  I also provide massage therapy for traveling Cirque Du Soleil shows and visiting athletic teams and organizations while they are in the Florida area.

Types of Massage

Whether you're a seasoned professional athlete or just the champion of office Olympics, there are several amazing massage techniques that can help you live a better life.  Every massage you receive uses a combination of several different massage techniques and is tailored to your specific needs.  I use a variety of techniques that include and / or are similar to Swedish, Deep Tissue, Cross Fiber Friction, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Active Release Technique, Active Isolated Stretching, and Positional Release Techniques.

I also use a tool used to break up adhesions such as "knots" or scar tissue which is formed by poor posture, injuries, or repetitive stress injuries.  The tools and techniques were invented by a man named David Graston.  He originally invented the "Graston Technique" and later improved upon this technique and created "SASTM" which stands for Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization.  Like any good therapy technique, there is some discomfort while this technique is being performed, but the benefits are fantastic.  I have used them successfully in helping with everything from frozen shoulder, torn muscles, tennis / golfers elbow and any and all aches and pains.  They are an excellent addition to my arsenal of therapy techniques.

The main goal of my massage therapy is relieve pain and discomfort from all those who suffer.  Besides any medical reasons, the majority of pain experienced by people is caused by soft tissue injuies.  Great examples of this are back pain after playing with your kids, moving, not moving :).  Neck pain can be caused from a number of sources.  The main source in our day and age is STRESS!  Now put a stressful work weak, hectic family schedule, and say, an auto accident all together and you have a problem.  This is where my massages come in.  They are often more intense than a "Spa Massage" but they make you feel better for longer than just the hour you're on the table.

Through all my experiences, I have accumulated a great deal of knowledge and expertise in treating and preventing injuries.  While I do provide regular relaxation massages I am highly trained and proficient in helping fix injuries, prevent them, and provide amazing deep tissue massages!

I look forward to hearing from you,
